We have always worked closely with our customers, and our organization is structured in a way that allows us to listen to and realize our customers’ wishes and needs when it comes to moving vehicles in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner.
All customer interactions are unique. But the journey to a customized product follows an internal process which ensures that all parts of the business work together as efficiently as possible.
The customization process
In order for you to understand what takes place during the 8-12 weeks normally required to produce a customized machine, we will briefly describe the process from the moment we receive a request for a unique vehicle mover.
- It always begins with the customer contacting us and describing a challenge they are facing in their operations or a wish they have for a function to help them move vehicles.
In the first stage, the customer either contacts us through our marketing organization or gets in touch with R&D directly. Depending on the circumstances, we communicate with the customer by telephone or email, or, in some cases, we visit the customer on site to gain an understanding of the challenges the vehicle mover needs to resolve. - Based on the preliminary analysis, our R&D department drafts a concept proposal, which is presented to the customer along with the estimated cost and lead time.
- Once agreement with the customer has been reached concerning the needs, proposed solution, and estimated cost and lead time, it is time for the customer to place an order.
- The order comes in to Stringo and we provide a provisional order confirmation.
- Highly-detailed design work then gets underway and we plan production of the machine based on our order backlog and lead times for materials.
- At this stage of the process we have sufficient information to provide the customer with a finalized order confirmation including a delivery date.
- Production then commences. Our staff are used to the fact that the machines we build are different and unique. It may involve minor adjustments or major design or functional changes. Since all the modifications are made to an existing machine, we place high requirements on ourselves to verify the design before manufacture begins by means of calculations, design reviews and digital assembly tests, for example.
- All machines undergo final testing and inspections according to a standardized procedure both during and after manufacture. Customized machines must also meet the requirements for CE marking. This may involve supplier certificates for unique components, strength calculations, risk assessments or test reports which show that a custom-built machine also complies with CE requirements.
- When the machine is ready, it is packed and sent to the customer. Our sales reps are always eager to follow up on how the customized vehicle mover performs at the customer and how satisfied the customer is with their product.
Your requirements provides the starting point of customization
“Although we have always made major or minor modifications at Stringo, it is important to point out that when we resolve a specific need, it is the customer’s requirement that provides the starting point for any customization,” says Magnus Grafström.
