When she’s not overseeing product orders or approaching potential customers, you might find her swimming, painting—or baking tiramisu. Meet Maggie Pei, Sales & Marketing Assistant in Stringo’s office in Shenyang, China, and find out what travel destinations are at the top of her bucket list.
When did you join Stringo, and how did that come about?
“I started in January 2023. Before that, I worked for ten years in a Hong Kong company. In that role, I worked mainly with financial and personnel management. My tasks included analysing statistical data, processing bank payments, and signing employment contracts. As there were staff reorganisations in the company, I saw an opportunity to challenge myself to do other things besides financial work. That's how I joined Stringo.”
What does your role as Sales & Marketing Assistant entail?
“I’m responsible for overseeing the entire process following customer orders. This involves coordinating with headquarters to place orders and arranging transportation to pick up goods. I also manage the coordination of customer arrival times and on-site procedures, facilitate the acceptance process, issue VAT invoices, arrange regular payments to headquarters, and analyse internal data statistics.”
What’s the best thing about your job?
“Being involved from start to finish in each project. I find it very impressive that a company producing vehicle-moving machines in northern Sweden has become a global leader in its field. It’s exciting to be part of a team that takes on the big challenges that our customers in the automotive industry are facing right now, like how to handle electric vehicles in a safe way. I feel very honored to have joined Stringo.”
What’s the most challenging part?
“The trickiest part for me is enhancing my English communication skills, which is a crucial area I aim to improve. I still require assistance from Susan Zhou, our National Account Manager, in dealing with intricate communication matters. I’m also still learning about Stringo’s different products.”
Any exciting projects you're working on right now?
“We’re currently approaching several Chinese car manufacturers in order to introduce our Stringos to them. The market here in China is quite special. Each project is unique, so whenever we reach success, we get really excited.”
What do you like doing outside of work?
“After graduating from university, I developed a passion for watercolour painting. But with the time constraints of parenting, I’ve shifted my focus to baking. It brings me immense joy to see my ten-year-old daughter relish desserts I’ve made, such as tiramisu or sponge cake.”
Do you engage in any other hobbies, or sports activities?
“During the hot summer months, I indulge in swimming sessions that leave me feeling revitalised. It’s a sport I enjoy a lot. My record for 1000 metres is 23 minutes and 12 seconds. That might not be considered exceptional among elite swimmers, but I take great pride in achieving this milestone.”
Is there a dream destination that you’d like to travel to?
“I would love to visit Rovaniemi, the hometown of Santa Claus in northern Finland, where I can witness the mesmerising aurora at the Arctic Circle. The town of Oia on the Greek island of Santorini is also on my dream itinerary. I long to behold the captivating sunset over the Aegean Sea. These destinations hold a special place on my travel list and it is my utmost desire to accomplish both.”
